When connecting your AtomStack Hurricane with AtomStack Studio, you may see a prompt to upgrade the firmware.
This guide explains how to check your firmware version, why users on C10-0162-V1.32 should not upgrade, and how to recover if you have already upgraded by mistake.
1. How to Check Your Firmware Version
In LightBurn
Connect the machine → open Console → you will see a line such as:[VER:C10-0162-V1.32]→ Here, C10-0162-V1.32 is the firmware version.
In AtomStack Studio
After connecting the machine, go to Device Information → Firmware Version.
2. Do Not Upgrade if You Are on C10-0162-V1.32
If your firmware shows C10-0162-V1.32, please do not upgrade, even if AtomStack Studio prompts you. This version works as intended and does not require an update.
3. What If You Already Upgraded by Mistake?
If your machine originally had firmware C10-0162-V1.32 but you accidentally upgraded, you may notice the following issues:
Distorted engraving results

A square is engraved as a rectangle stretched along the Y-axis.

A circle is engraved as an ellipse elongated along the Y-axis.
Camera alignment or framing issues

During border preview or engraving, the machine may collide with the front frame.
These symptoms indicate that the wrong firmware is installed. To resolve this, you must reinstall the correct firmware using the recovery steps below.
4. Recovery Process

What you need:

A USB flash drive (FAT32, preferably empty)

The downloaded firmware file
Steps
Copy the .bin file only
- Unzip the downloaded package.
- Copy only the ".bin" file to the root directory of the USB drive.
- Do not copy the entire folder. Ensure the USB root directory has no other files.
Insert the USB drive (machine off)
- With the Hurricane powered off, insert the USB drive into the left-side USB port.
Power on to start recovery
- Turn on the machine. The update will begin automatically.
- You will hear a beeping sound for ~20 seconds.
- When the beeping stops, the recovery is complete.
Verify the firmware
- Disconnect the USB drive.
- Reconnect to LightBurn or AtomStack Studio and check the firmware version again (see Section 1).
- Optionally, test by engraving a simple square or circle to confirm the Y-axis distortion is resolved.

This recovery firmware is only for users who mistakenly upgraded from C10-0162-V1.32.
